Atopic dermatitis, a multifactorial disease that affects the physical and psychological, is not currently being addressed by medical experts, according to scientists and patients. 2.5 million people are affected in France. The Second Skin project proposes, in order to restore the role of protective barrier not filled by the injured skin, a collection of reusable dressing objects, to be worn on affected areas, whose fiber acts in a neutral or beneficial way. With its local textile protections, this project seeks to help the acceptance of the disease and to give autonomy to patients often disappointed by the medical profession, by providing explanations of the physiological functioning of the disease.
